I have just released KLog 0.9.0.2.
It is a quick bugfix release fixing two different bugs.

After some time adding new features and doing quite a lot of bugfixing, I have decided to release KLog 0.9.0.
For those who follow this development, you will see that KLog moved to Kontest and then came back to KLog again… I decided to keep the name KLog (at least for a while!).
So here is the release, enjoy it and please report any bug you find (I am pretty sure that you will find some!)
IMPORTANT: As KLog has been fully rewritten since version 0.7.0, it is still not been translated to many languages. Today it is only translated to English and Spanish so, if you want to help KLog to be in your language, send me an email!

Nunca pensé que fuera a escribir un apunte en el blog tratando de enmendarle la plana a la RAE sobre la definición de una palabra.
Siempre pensé que la RAE hacía, al menos, algún estudio etimológico medianamente serio de las nuevas palabras que añadían al diccionario antes de hacerlo.
Nunca pensé que volverían a repetir las barbaridades de antaño, demostrando una ignorancia total del mundo tecnológico. Hace años ya se lucieron nuestros académicos con ejemplos como el de cederrón …
Hoy nuestros académicos me han vuelto a dejar con la boca abierta.
Por un lado han aceptado la palabra “Hacker” y por otro, han demostrado que ni se leyeron la página del término en la Wikipedia, acusando de pirata informático a miles de hackers.
Una sola acepción, la de pirata informático, sin más. Dejando fuera el significado real de la palabra hacker.
Señores académicos: un hacker es mucho más que un pirata informático. La palabra que buscaban era cracker.
Déjenme recomendarles otra página de la Wikipedia, por no irnos a sitios raros. Lean la página de la ética hacker a ver si les parece la ética del pirata informático.
Me parece un gran atrevimiento el proponer una definición de la palabra hacker. Es una palabra con gran significado para muchos y muy lejos del simple y burdo pirata informatico pero, si me permiten ¿qué les parecería algo así?
Persona apasionada y, generalmente, con gran conocimiento sobre un tema.
Simple y concreto pero amplio, sin dejar a nadie fuera. Sin limitarnos a la seguridad informática, ni al software libre, ni a la electrónica, ni a la ingenieria, ni a las matemáticas, ni a la economía, ni a la medicina, ni al cine, … porque en todas las disciplinas existen hackers.
Señores academicos, entre sus sillones se encuentran algunos de los mejores hackers de las palabras de España. No me creo que no sean capaces de hacerlo mejor.

I think I have it.
I have fixed the bug in the windows installer package of Kontest.
The package showed an error “Driver not loaded” just when the database was created so, thanks to Google I found the fix in the great stackoverflow.
So, in a few words, just add a sqldrivers folder and copy the qsqlite4.dll file in it before creating the package and you will have it!
I have done some (just a few, to be honest!) tests in a clean windows virtual host and it worked like a charm so I hope it is OK for most of the systems out there.

This is a quick post to tell you that I have just released a quick backport of Kontest to Qt4 (4.8.5) as some of you have told me that Qt5 is not OK for your system.

I have rewritten completely KLog into a new software, Kontest. The name is something still to be defined so if you have any preference, please tell me what you think! Today it is called Kontest, because I wanted to give KLog contest capabilities.
Today, let me call KLog to the previous software and Kontest to the new one, so we can understand each other. 🙂
What’s new with Kontest?
My first intention was to provide all the functionalities of KLog into Kontest, before releasing, to try to avoid the maintenance of two different software packages, however, there are some differences:

Even ifKontest has been designed to allow an “easy” integration of new contest from the developer point of view although today it is not supporting ANY contest…
My intention was to provide all the KLog functionalities first, and once the day-to-day logging is working as KLog, I will start working on the contest capabilities.

As I told you some months ago, I keep rewriting a new software… but my free time is close to zero 🙁 sometimes code some lines but my time in radio is mostly spent in the radio 🙂
However… yesterday I was DXing in 50Mhz and I noticed that the bearing was not correct and the coding-virus made me fix the bug ASAP.

KLog is now 10 years old!! Wow time goes really fast! 🙂
Last release of KLog was one year ago… and this release is not adding many things… Bug fix as last one.
However… does it mean that KLog is dead?
Not it is not. 🙂
During this time I have been rewriting ALL KLog and now, the new software can be compiled for Windows and (probably) OSX (although I have still not tested OSX).
Of course… the new code will be released for Linux, as today !!
The idea behind this is making available the free software I am doing for more hams.
